The Daily Walter was a data gift produced as part of a week long pressure project for my Grandfather who struggles to reach his nearest newspaper shop due to poor health.

My Grandfather is computer literate to a degree but is overwhelmed by the sheer volume of content on the Internet. The concept behind the project was to provide the all the news he obtained previously from his newspaper with the simple tap of a button. The news is presented in the style of a newspaper, a format which is both familiar to my Grandfather and easy to view. Tapping on one of the headlines, my Grandfather will be taken to the website from which it was sourced allowing him to read the article in full.

The project was developed in the Processing programming environment and uses data scraping to retrieve the headlines, links for the stories and weather data that make up the virtual newspaper interface.
